Warriors land Duncan Robinson comp from Kentucky in new mock draft

The Golden State Warriors might be setting themselves up to draft another Splash Brother.

In a new mock draft released Tuesday, Bleacher Report’s Jonathan Wasserman had the Warriors snagging a six-foot-six, 202-pound sharpshooter out of Kentucky with the No. 41 overall pick, a player whom Wasserman compared to Miami Heat’s Duncan Robinson.

The prospect? Dominican Republic native Koby Brea.

“Koby Brea joined a short list of college players 6’6″ and over to shoot 42.0 percent from three on 700 career attempts,” Wasserman wrote.

“Half carved out NBA careers or roles, including Allan Houston, Dennis Scott, Jason Kapono, Kyle Korver, Sam Hauser and Steve Novak. Teams could see a specialist and value with Brea in the second round.”

The Warriors’ system, built on motion offense and spacing, thrives with players like Brea, who can stretch defenses with catch-and-shoot precision. Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson redefined NBA shooting, and Golden State’s coaching staff, led by Steve Kerr, has a proven knack for developing perimeter threats.

Brea’s size and shooting stroke could make him a plug-and-play option, filling a role similar to Robinson’s in Miami—running off screens, punishing closeouts, and creating space for stars like Curry. His frame offers defensive versatility, an area where the Warriors’ system masks weaknesses through team schemes.

Drafting Brea could address Golden State’s need for cost-controlled depth as they navigate luxury tax constraints. While not a projected star, Brea’s specialist skill set mirrors the Warriors’ ethos: shooting wins championships.

If Brea emulates even a fraction of the Splash Brothers’ impact, he could be a steal at No. 41 overall, continuing Golden State’s legacy of turning sharpshooters into difference-makers.
