Warriors guard makes announcement on 2028 Olympics after playoff letdown

Although the 2028 Olympics aren’t right around the corner, it’s still acceptable to discuss the various components of them.

On Tuesday, a Golden State Warriors guard made an essential announcement about the highly anticipated summer event.

“I want to be an Olympian in 2028,” Brandin Podziemski said on the Up and Adams Show with Kay Adams on Tuesday.

“Definitely something I have my sights on. And I just want to be a household name, somewhere where it can be me and a bunch of other guys winning a championship. That’d be kind of ideal for me.”

Podziemski is a respectable role player with the Dubs.

From moving well without the ball to creating easy shots for himself to maximizing his catch-and-shoot opportunities on the perimeter, the Santa Clara product showcases why he’s a good fit with the Warriors.

Podziemski averaged 11.7 points, 5.1 rebounds, and 3.4 assists per game, shooting 44.5% from the field and 37.2% from three-point land.

However, judging by the second-year pro’s inconsistent play in the postseason (especially in the Western Conference semifinals without Stephen Curry), it’s reasonable to state his 2028 goal is unrealistic.

Sure, players can always blossom and shock the world by elevating their games to new heights.

That said, Podziemski doesn’t possess the ‘it-factor’ that separates Olympic-worthy assets from ordinary contributors, making it challenging to envision him taking a significant step forward soon.

It’ll be interesting to see where the 6-foot-4 guard is in his development three years from now.
