All eyes have been on the Golden State Warriors as they remain the only team that’s yet to make a single free agency signing this offseason.
Drama has surrounded the Warriors’ offseason as restricted free agent Jonathan Kuminga continues his holdout. The 22-year-old is seeking a larger role with increased playing time, hoping to prove himself and earn a more lucrative contract in future years.
The holdout has stalled Golden State’s offseason plans, preventing the team from making moves as the 2025-26 season approaches.
Movement will be made within the Warriors’ roster sooner rather than later, and according to Bleacher Report’s Jake Fischer, Golden State has shown interest in adding a veteran guard to back up Stephen Curry.
“Another detail that I’ve learned over the phone the past couple of days is that Malcolm Brogdon remains a possibility for the Warriors as well, in addition to Seth Curry. But the Warriors are signaling patience to all these interested veterans… They’re still open-minded to a sign-and-trade deal, but there could be an unbalanced trade where they’re going to need some roster spots available to complete a sign-and-trade transaction if that were to happen,” Fischer explained.
Brogdon, 32, has shown that he’s still a reliable guard in this league. In the 2024-25 season with the Washington Wizards, he averaged 12.7 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 4.1 assists while shooting 43.3% from the field in 24 games. His health has been an issue; only played in a combined 63 games the past two seasons.
For Seth Curry, the younger brother of Stephen Curry, his playing time opportunity has depleted in recent years. averaging just 15.6 minutes a game for a struggling Charlotte Hornets team in 2024-25. But uniting him with his older brother for the first time in their professional careers would be interesting to see. In addition, his health status is more promising after playing in 68 games last season.
