Warriors’ Draymond Green shares eye-popping confession with NFL running back

The Golden State Warriors’ 4-time NBA champion and 2017 Defensive Player of the Year Draymond Green has received plenty of recognition for his on-court antics throughout his 13-year career, but a recent announcement from the future Hall of Famer offered a glimpse into his off-court shenanigans.

During an episode of Green’s podcast, Why is Draymond Green Talking About Football?, the 4-time All-Star spoke with his co-host Jordan Schultz and Tampa Bay Buccaneers running back Rachaad White about his wild early-career decisions, some of which may come as a shock when taking his on-court persona and focused demeanor into account.

“I’ve been out night before a game, drink till 6:00 in the morning and have a triple-double,” Green shared with Schultz and White on Thursday.

“When I was younger in the league, I had several nights like that.”

“But during the playoffs, I don’t really do much of nothing. When you’re in the playoffs, as you know, you can’t give someone an edge.”

For a player as mentally dialed in as Green on a night-to-night basis throughout any given season of his career, it’s hard to believe that he would spend a few nights partying until dawn, especially when he had to hit the hardwood later that same day.

Thankfully for the Warriors, Green’s adventures never seemed to be a detriment to the team on their way to four NBA title victories from 2015-2022.

As he prepares to enter his 14th campaign in 2025-26, the 35-year-old forward and small-ball center is coming off of a third-place finish in 2025 Defensive Player of the Year voting along with his fifth All-Defensive First Team selection. In 68 appearances for the Warriors last season, he contributed 9.0 points, 6.1 rebounds, 5.6 assists, 1.5 steals and 1.0 blocks.

It goes without saying that he’ll be aiming to repeat that performance in this coming season, as he’ll have another chance to capture his fifth NBA championship alongside his legendary teammates in 2-time MVP Stephen Curry and 6-time All-Star Jimmy Butler.

This time around, he’ll be focused solely on raising the Larry O’Brien trophy come season’s end.
