The Golden State Warriors and Jonathan Kuminga can’t agree to a contract.
The Chicago Bulls and Josh Giddey can’t agree to a contract.
That’s the plight of the two talented restricted free agents right now as the NBA summer drags into August.
Except, there may be a solution.
According to NBA insider Jake Fischer, the Warriors have interest in a double sign-and-trade to swap players.
“I can report that there have been multiple teams that have reached out to Josh Giddey’s representation about having interest in [him],” Fischer said. “Golden State is one of them. Golden State would be interested, depending on how the machinations would go, in some kind of Josh Giddey-Jonathan Kuminga sign-and-trade, to my understanding.”

Fischer does put a little cold water on this fire, saying the Bulls have told other teams they don’t want to talk sign-and-trade right now.
At the same time, Fischer reports that the Bulls have been interested in other ways to acquire Kuminga.
There definitely would be some logical overlap here, although NBA trade rules with the double sign-and-trade would likely require a third team in the deal at some point.
It’d certainly be an odd twist to these obnoxious sagas that show no signs of ending.
Giddey’s playmaking would be a fascinating mix in Golden State.
Kuminga would likely get free rein to score as much as he can in Chicago.
Even if it’s not totally realistic, it’s the kind of deal that would just end some drama and make a pair of teams more intriguing.
You’d try it in a video game. Why not in real life?
