Michael Scotto of Hoopshype reported today that the Golden State Warriors signed free agent guard Taevion Kinsey in a late free agency acquisition.
The 25-year-old shooting guard spent time with the Utah Jazz during the 2024-25 season but has yet to appear in an NBA game so far in his career.
Kinsey has spent most of his G-League career with the Salt Lake City Stars. Last year, he averaged 12.3 points with 3.9 rebounds and 2.8 assists in 34 games.
What Does Kinsey Bring to the Table for Golden State?
After spending five years at Marshall, where he became the school’s all-time leading scorer, Kinsey went undrafted in the 2023 NBA Draft before being picked up and playing for the Jazz’s Summer League team. Kinsey had been with Utah ever since.
He was also selected to represent the NBA G League United Team in the 2025 FIBA Intercontinental Cup this Fall, where he’ll have the opportunity to showcase his skills on the international stage.
Now, he heads to Golden State, where he’ll look to latch on and learn from one of the all-time great guards to play the game, Steph Curry. While in college, Kinsey was considered a great shooter, averaging over 40% his senior season.
Since starting in the G League, however, that number has dropped to 30%, and he’ll look to Curry to assist in any way possible to turn that around.
Kinsey likely won’t see much playing time this season; he’ll probably be a reserve player at best. However, Golden State has the opportunity to develop the youngster in-house, and he could become a valuable contributor for the future.
