Vladimir Guerrero Jr. family tree: Meet Blue Jays star’s Hall of Fame dad Vladimir Sr., wife, kids and more

​​​​​​​Vladimir Guerrero Jr. has blossomed into a superstar since making his MLB debut with the Toronto Blue Jays in 2019.

The power-hitting infielder, known for his smooth yet forceful swing and flair for the dramatic, finished sixth in AL Rookie of the Year voting and quickly became a perennial All-Star candidate. In 2021, his 48-homer season even earned him second place in AL MVP voting.

But unlike many of today’s MLB stars, Guerrero may not be the most famous ballplayer in his family — and it’s not just him and his father who have pursued careers in baseball.

Here’s what to know about Vladimir Guerrero Jr.’s family, from his Hall of Fame father to his wife and children.

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. wife: Nathalie Guerrero

Vladimir Guerrero Jr.’s wife is Nathalie Guerrero. According to Sportskeeda, Nathalie was born in 1998 and grew up in Canada. The two were dating for five years prior to getting married in March 2023.

Nathalie, who has over 64,000 followers on Instagram, often shares photos of her and her family supporting the Blue Jays star. She has reportedly worked with the Vladimir Guerrero Jr. Foundation, which is focused on working closely with young children, health and families in need. 

In May 2025, Vladimir shared a video to social media where he surprised his wife with a new car.

Vladimir Guerrero daughters

Vladimir and Nathalie Guerrero have two daughters together, Vlaimel and Vlaishel.

Vlaimel Guerrero

The couple’s oldest daughter, Vlaimel, was born in August 2017.

In August 2025, Vladimir Jr. was featured in an MLB.com story that highlighted his relationship with his oldest daughter, making friendship bracelets and with Vlaimel helping him with his English.

“Every time I come home from the ballpark, no matter what — even if I go 0-for-3 or 0-for-4 — when I see her, my day changes,” Guerrero said in the story. “That’s why I say ‘love.’ Every time I see her, I feel love in my heart. I thank God I have my daughter with me all the time.”

“She’s funny, but she cries a lot, too. … I was like that as a kid, too, so that reminds me of when I was a kid. We’re exactly the same.”

Vladimir also said that Vlaimel was “one of the main reasons that I signed my contract in Toronto.” 

“Of course, it was for my entire family, but she loves the city. She loves it. She loves the fans,” he said in the story. “She’s always happy to be around [the stadium], and she’s always happy there. She’s one of the main reasons that I’m here in Toronto.”

Vlaishel Guerrero

Vlaishel Guerrero, the younger daughter of Vladimir and Nathalie, was born in August 2018.

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. dad: Vladimir Guerrero Sr. 

Vladimir Guerrero Jr.’s father is Vladimir Guerrero Sr., a Baseball Hall of Famer. Guerrero Sr. played in MLB from 1996 to 2011 as an outfielder and designated hitter for the Montreal Expos, Los Angeles Angels, Texas Rangers, and Baltimore Orioles. He amassed 2,590 hits, establishing himself as one of the premier hitters of his generation. His accolades include the 2004 AL MVP award, nine All-Star selections, and eight Silver Slugger awards.

Guerrero Sr. was raised in the Dominican Republic as one of nine children. Remarkably, he reportedly didn’t own a baseball glove until he was 15, yet with the support of family members like his brother Wilton, who were also involved in baseball, he eventually earned a workout with the Dodgers.

The Expos signed Guerrero Sr. for $2,100 in 1993. He quickly advanced through the minor leagues and made his MLB debut in 1996. While defensive miscues were a recurring theme in his career, Guerrero Sr. became one of the greatest hitters of the 2000s, primarily with the Angels, and became the second player in franchise history to win the MVP in 2004.

After his MLB career, Guerrero Sr. also played in the Dominican Professional Baseball League. He officially retired in 2014, signing a one-day deal with the Angels to be honored as a franchise legend.

In 2018, Guerrero Sr. was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame alongside Jim Thome, Chipper Jones, and Trevor Hoffman, becoming the first Hall of Famer depicted wearing an Angels cap.

Vladimir Guerrero Sr. reportedly has eight kids with five women, per a 2012 paternity lawsuit reported by TMZ. Vladimir Jr. was born in Montreal in 1999, when his father was playing for the Expos. However, Vladimir Jr. later moved to the Dominican Republic with his mother, as his parents separated when he was young.

There are various photos of Vladimir Jr. as a kid, tagging alongside his father on MLB fields long before he’d be doing the same.

Vladimir Guerrero Sr. and Jr. have broken various MLB records as two father-son stars. According to Sarah Langs, they’re the only father and son to each hit a postseason grand slam. Both have won All-Star Game MVP and a Home Run Derby. In 2021, they became the second father-son duo in MLB history to each have a 40-home run season in their careers, joining Cecil and Prince Fielder.

Additionally, Guerrero Jr. was named the cover athlete of “MLB The Show 24,” like his father was for “MLB 2006.” They became the first father-son duo to each headline an MLB video game.

Vladimir Jr. said in 2024 that his goal is to reach his father’s nine All-Star selections.

““This is one more accomplishment, and of course it’s one more closer to my dad,” Guerrero said through a club interpreter, per MLB.com. “He has nine All-Star Games, so I’m getting close to him. That’s my goal.”

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. mom: Riquelma Ramos

Vladmir Guerrero Jr.’s mother is Riquelma Ramos. She is from Santiago, Dominican Republic, and learned to speak French while living with Vladimir Sr. in Montreal.

However, she reportedly returned to the Dominican Republic early in Vladimir Jr.’s life, and the future Blue Jays star went with her to the country while spending summers with his father in the United States.

“I only lived in Canada for a few years before moving back to the Dominican Republic with my mom and my grandparents,” Vladimir Jr. wrote in The Player’s Tribune in 2017.

Ramos has primarily been out of the spotlight, but she did snap photos with her son in 2015 at the Blue Jays’ complex in the Dominican Republic.

Additionally, Guerrero Jr. has had custom cleats made for Mother’s Day in the past.

In September 2023, Riqualma was reportedly dealing with a “serious health issue,” and her son wore a pink sleeve during games in her honor. Guerrero said she was “improving” but “very ill.”

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. brother: Pablo Guerrero 

Vladimir Guerrero Jr.’s younger brother is Pablo Guerrero, also the son of Hall of Famer Vladimir Guerrero Sr.. Pablo is a prospect in the Texas Rangers’ farm system, having signed with the team as an international free agent at 16 years old in 2023.

A Dominican Republic native, Pablo Guerrero is currently with the Rangers’ Single-A affiliate. He is a right-handed hitting outfielder who stands at 6-foot-2. In 2025, he hit .208 with seven home runs and 34 RBIs. In his time in the minor leagues, Pablo owns a .236 average, 19 home runs, 107 RBIs and a .696 OPS over three seasons.

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. half-brother: Vladi Miguel Guerrero

Vladimir Guerrero Jr.’s half-brother is Vladi Miguel Guerrero, who signed with the New York Mets in 2024. Vladi is also the son of Vladimir Guerrero Sr., and he agreed to a $117,000 signing bonus to join New York, per MLB.com.

“Obviously, I’m really proud of him,” Guerrero Sr. said through an interpreter when Vladi Miguel signed his deal with the Mets, per MLB.com. “That’s my third one already to sign. Honestly, I just feel really happy for him. Not just that it’s a contract because he’s my son, but just for him as an individual. I feel really happy for him that he was able to do that.”

Vladi Miguel, who was born in Miami according to his minor league page, is a 6-2 left-handed hitter viewed as a long-term first base/left field option.

In two minor league seasons at the Mets’ rookie-level affiliate, Vladi has hit .210 with one home run and 22 RBIs.

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. uncle: Wilton Guerrero 

Vladimir Guerrero Jr.’s uncle is Wilton Guerrero, another former MLB player in the family. Wilton, who was born in Don Gregorio, Dominican Republic, was a switch-hitting second baseman and outfielder who played in MLB from 1996-2004.

Wilton Guerrero played for the Los Angeles Dodgers (1996–1998), Montreal Expos (1998–2000, 2002), Cincinnati Reds (2001–2002), and Kansas City Royals (2004). Known for his defensive versatility and contact hitting, Guerrero hit just 11 home runs in his career, but also carried a .282 lifetime average. His best major-league seasons were spent in Montreal, including playing alongside Vlad Sr. with the Expos for multiple seasons.

Wilton and Vladimir Sr. became the first brothers to play together on the Expos, including becoming one of the only sets of brothers to homer in the same game over MLB history.

Vladimir Jr. has credited his uncle Wilton for helping him learn baseball.

“I think everything I’ve learned in baseball has been from him,” he said of Wilton, per Sportsnet. “I’ve been practicing with him since I was five. He’s the one who taught me to practice well and guided me to where I am.”

Wilton Guerrero totaled 473 hits over his MLB career.

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. godfather: Pedro Martinez

The baseball connections in Vlad Jr.’s family don’t end there, as his godfather is another Hall of Famer, former pitcher Pedro Martinez. Martinez said he has known Vlad Jr. since he was a baby, as he was teammates with Vlad Sr. for parts of two seasons with the Montreal Expos.

When Vladimir Guerrero Jr. was competing in the 2019 Home Run Derby, Martinez said he was emotional watching him grow to the massive stage.

“It’s like I have my own kid competing against someone else, and I couldn’t hold the emotions,” Martinez told MLB Network’s Chris Russo. “I was really happy. I found myself yelling and kicking and screaming because I never felt so close to another person competing like I did ever before.

In 2021, Martinez and the Blue Jays star appeared on MLB Network together, with Martinez joking that Guerrero Jr. was “well behaved because he could eat.”

In 2023, Martinez wore an Expos jersey as he fired in a ceremonial first pitch to his godson at a Blue Jays game.

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. uncle: Julio Guerrero 

Another of Vladimir Guerrero Jr.’s uncles is Julio Guerrero, who played in the Boston Red Sox organization from 1998-2001.

Born in Bani, Dominican Republic according to Baseball Reference, Julio Guerrero played right field, shortstop and center field. He played for Boston’s rookie, A- and Single-A affiliates, hitting .209 with one home run and 62 RBIs over four minor-league seasons.

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. cousins

Two of Vladimir Guerrero Jr.’s cousins also have baseball connections.

Gabriel Guerrero 

One of Vlad Jr.’s cousins, Gabriel Guerrero, is a former MLB player with the Cincinnati Reds. Gabriel, who is from Nizao, Peravia, Dominican Republic, signed with the Seattle Mariners as an international free agent in 2011. After being traded to the Arizona Diamondbacks organization in 2015, Gabriel Guerrero made his MLB debut for the Reds in 2018. 

He appeared in 14 games for Cincinnati in 2018, with three hits, including a home run. However, Gabriel’s time in MLB ended there, as he returned to the minor leagues, elected free agency, then spent the 2018-20 seasons in the Miami Marlins and Toronto Blue Jays organizations. In 2021, Gabriel Guerrero played for the Kansas City Monarchs of the American Association of Professional Baseball. He retired in 2022.

Gregory Guerrero

Another of Vladimir Guerrero Jr.’s cousins is Gregory Guerrero, who is from Bani, Dominican Republic and played in the New York Mets organization from 2016-22.

A right-handed hitting second baseman, shortstop and third baseman, Gregory hit .227 with 10 home runs and 73 RBIs over his five-year minor league career. The Mets signed Gregory Guerrero in 2015

Where is Vladimir Guerrero Jr. from?

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. was born in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, which is why he is a Canadian citizen. At the time of his birth in 1999, his father, Vladimir Guerrero Sr., was playing for the Montreal Expos.

However, Guerrero Jr. only lived in Canada for a few years as a child before moving with his mother and grandparents to the Dominican Republic. He spent summers in the U.S. with his father growing up.
