Viktor Gyokeres to Arsenal deal on the verge of collapsing as talks hit deadlock

Arsenal’s chase for Viktor Gyokeres is starting to feel like extra time with no winner in sight.

What once looked like a near-done deal may now be slipping away as talks between the Gunners and Sporting CP have reportedly hit a brick wall.

The North London club had apparently agreed personal terms with the Swedish striker. Gyokeres was even ready to sign a five-year deal.

But despite all signs pointing to a move to the Emirates, the two clubs can’t agree on the final fee.

As per reports (via Record), Arsenal offered €65 million plus €15 million in bonuses — a package that met Sporting’s earlier €80 million demand.

But now the Portuguese club wants more of that money up front: a flat €70 million with smaller add-ons. It’s a minor difference on paper, but one that’s causing major trouble at the table.

While Arsenal’s transfer team flew to Lisbon hoping to seal the deal, they’ve since returned to London — empty-handed.

Why Arsenal may pull plug on Gyokeres deal

As per sources close to the deal (via Daily Mail) suggest Arsenal are ready to walk away unless Sporting change their position.

And with each passing day, patience is wearing thinner than a winger’s shin pads in pre-season.

It’s no secret Gyokeres wants the move. He’s already offered to sacrifice €2 million of future salary to help get it over the line.

He’s also refused to report for training with Sporting, feeling let down by the club’s sudden change of stance. There’s even talk of him heading to Fenerbahce on loan — with Jose Mourinho happy to play poacher if Arsenal exit the race.

Gyokeres smashed in 54 goals last season and was seen as the final piece of Mikel Arteta’s attack. But with Sporting standing firm and Arsenal unwilling to overpay, this transfer may not find the back of the net.

If talks don’t resume soon, it could be game over for this summer’s most drawn-out saga.
