The Minnesota Vikings went absolutely ballistic on Sunday against the Cincinnati Bengals. Their defense was firing on all cylinders, and much of that dominance was thanks to Isaiah Rodgers, who had a breakout performance — a true coming-out party, to say the least. After the game, Rodgers made it clear: none of it matters if he doesn’t continue to produce.
“I just knew,” Rodgers said, “that once I finally got my shot, whether it was Year 6, Year 10, that my time would come. I knew I was going to be the best Isaiah Rodgers I could be. But I’ve just got to continue. I feel like today wouldn’t matter if I don’t respond next week and continue to keep going.”
This dominant showing by Rodgers and the Vikings came just one week after a disappointing loss to the Atlanta Falcons — a game that put the Vikings on the wrong side of NFL history.
“The Vikings are the only NFL team in the Super Bowl era to have a game where they: had under 200 yards of offense, failed to score a TD, took 6+ sacks, fumbled 4+ times, committed 4+ turnovers, had 8+ penalties, allowed an individual 100-yard rusher,” Opta Stats posted.
One week later, the Vikings flipped the script — and made history for all the right reasons.
“The Vikings are the first team in NFL history to have… 2+ pass TD, 2+ rush TD, 2+ defensive TD, 2+ made field goals… all before the 4th quarter of a game,” Opta Stats wrote.

The performance and offensive onslaught were unlike anything seen in recent memory. Based on the records, it may never have been seen before. After a long and difficult week, the Vikings reminded everyone exactly what they’re capable of.
Looking ahead, Minnesota will aim to carry that momentum into next weekend. And if Sunday’s showing is any indication, their newly set record might stand untouched for a long time.
