Vikings’ Carson Wentz is 1st in NFL history with this wild 6-team record

Just by taking the first snap for the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday, Carson Wentz will be a record breaker.

No NFL quarterback has ever started for this many teams in consecutive seasons as Wentz will have after his Week 3 start with J.J. McCarthy out injured.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter shared the stat: Wentz is the first QB to ever start for six different teams over the course of six consecutive seasons.

In 2020, he made his final starts with the Philadelphia Eagles.

In 2021, it was on to the Indianapolis Colts.

By 2022, Wentz had gotten a shot with the Washington Commanders.

In 2023, Wentz moved on and started for the Kansas City Chiefs.

In 2024, Wentz suited up as a starter for the Los Angeles Rams.

And now with McCarthy out, Wentz gets the call for the Vikings.

Wentz was a free agent until late August. The Vikings had Sam Howell as their QB2.

But then Minnesota opted to trade Howell, ironically to the Eagles, and sign Wentz.

Wentz got up to speed and now starts in a backup quarterback clash in Week 3 against the Cincinnati Bengals and Jake Browning, who is standing in for Joe Burrow.

Both teams are conceptual contenders, and how well their backup QB plays will go a long way toward where their seasons go from here.
