The New York Knicks have gotten off to a hot start in the first year of the Mike Brown era, winning two of their first three games against the Cleveland Cavaliers and Boston Celtics.
Their rotations are deep, with the Knicks playing more players than they would’ve under former head coach Tom Thibodeau. Over 12 players are averaging at least eight minutes per game.
But could the roster use one more piece to push them over the top and solidify themselves as the East’s top contender?
Kris Dunn named as ‘realistic’ Knicks trade target
Andy Bailey of Bleacher Report recently named Los Angeles Clippers point guard Kris Dunn as a “realistic” trade target for the Knicks if they are in the market for a veteran presence on the bench.
“If the New York Knicks want a little more defense and veteran know-how from their backup point guard, Kris Dunn would be an interesting target,” wrote Bailey.
“And with the depth of the Clippers’ bench potentially making it harder for Dunn to get regular minutes there, he might be gettable if a prospect such as Pacôme Dadiet went back.”
When Malcolm Brogdon abruptly retired before the start of the season, he left second-year point guard Tyler Kolek to fill the void left behind.
Kolek has had some nice moments through three games, but his production and experience leave a bit to be desired.
Acquiring Dunn would allow Kolek more time to sit and learn on the bench and give the Knicks a veteran option behind superstar Jalen Brunson.
