Jack Eichel is one of many big name 2026 UFA’s who is awaiting a contract extension going into the final season of his current deal.
The Vegas Golden Knights star has revived his career with the squad after what was a messy exit in Buffalo. Eichel has experienced much more winning in Vegas taking home the Stanley Cup in 2023 and asserting himself as one of the top 2 way players in the league during his stint with the team.
As Vegas fans await the Eichel extension, the question is whether a new deal will be reached this season or if it will be a summer matter.
What is the latest on Eichel?
The good news for Vegas is it sounds like a contract agreement will be reached sooner rather than later. Via insider Chris Johnston, it would not be surprising to see a contract resolution found within the next two weeks.
This would be a positive development for Vegas as the organization would prefer to enter this season with Eichel locked up for the foreseeable future. Contract drama around the NHL is prevalent at the moment with the Kaprizov dilemma in Minnesota and McDavid uncertainty in Edmonton.
It will be interesting to see what this contract looks like. Insider Frank Seravalli had previously reported the deal will come in around the $13.5 million range across 8 years.
For Vegas, it would be nice to avoid any funny business and get this contract signed soon. The Golden Knights are expected to be one of the top cup contenders this season after bringing on Mitch Marner in the summer.
