Vanessa Bryant reveals the surprise that made Natalia’s USC graduation unforgettable

Natalia Bryant recently celebrated a major milestone, graduating from the University of Southern California. The 22-year-old obtained a degree in film from the prestigious School of Cinematic Arts.

The commencement ceremony, held on Friday, May 16, was filled with heartfelt moments and a few unforgettable surprises.

Family and close friends gathered to honor Natalia’s achievement, but one unexpected guest made the day even more memorable—Los Angeles Lakers controlling owner Jeanie Buss.

In a touching moment during the ceremony, Buss personally handed Natalia her diploma, adding an extra emotional gesture to the day.

Vanessa Bryant shared the moment on Instagram, posting a video of Natalia embracing Buss onstage.

Alongside the video, she expressed her gratitude, writing, “Legacy @nataliabryant ~ thank you @jeaniebuss for making this milestone even more special. #LakersFamily #USCGRAD #CumLaude 🎓🎉”

Although her father, the legendary Kobe Bryant, was not there to witness the occasion, Natalia made sure to honor his memory. Draped over her shoulders, her graduation stole featured a meaningful tribute.

One side highlighted her Cum Laude distinction and her Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority letters, while the other displayed the iconic Mamba logo—a nod to Kobe’s legacy and the “Mamba Mentality.” The emblem also paid tribute to her younger sister, Gianna “Gigi” Bryant.

Kobe and Gigi tragically passed away in January 2020 in a helicopter crash in Calabasas, California, along with seven others, while en route to a basketball game at the Mamba Sports Academy.

Their legacy lives on — and Natalia’s graduation was an important reminder of their lasting impact.
