The last friendly of the year, the USWNT will face New Zealand in Kansas City. It’s time to go out with a bang.
Rounding out a trio of October matches, the USA will play Portugal twice before New Zealand. That KCMO meeting will go down at CPKC Stadium, home of the NWSL’s Kansas City Current and the first venue in the U.S. built specifically for women’s sports.
The stars and stripes last faced the Kiwis in 2023 for two matches before the FIFA Women’s World Cup, and the U.S. won both in shutouts. But despite being ranked No. 33 in the world, New Zealand isn’t one to mess with, and with captain Ali Riley likely to return for her country, there’s no telling what kind of fight the Football Ferns will put up.
USWNT fans will likely see newcomers and rising stars gear up in Kansas City. With World Cup qualifying coming up in just a year, it’s time to place some finishing touches on that squad.
