The CONCACAF Gold Cup Final awaits, and the title matchup pits two familiar rivals against one another. USA vs. Mexico will clash on Sunday for North American football glory in the 18th edition of the famed championship.

USA notched its record 13th Gold Cup Final berth after narrowly defeating Guatemala 2-1 in the semifinals. Midfielder Diego Luna recorded his first-career brace, with his first strike in the. fourth minute and the second coming 11 minutes later. Guatemala’s Olger Escobar scored in the 80th minute, but goalkeeper Matt Freese was otherwise perfect and the U.S. was able to prevent its North American counterparts from finding the equalizer.

The NRG Stadium crowd should be electric for the home-field USMNT on Fourth of July weekend. However, Mexico will not be an easy out. El Tri broke a semifinals stalemate with Honduras in the 50th minute with a Raúl Jiménez goal assisted by Gilberto Mora.
This marks the 12th time Mexico will play in the Gold Cup Final, and the eighth title game between the two neighboring countries. Mexico owns the 5-2 edge in the all-time head-to-head matchup, so the Team USA will have its work cut out for it.
