Nelson Hysa (23-0, 21 KOs) has called out Moses Itauma (12-0, 10 KOs) straight after the undefeated Albanian’s latest win at the weekend on the Wardley-Huni undercard on June 7.
The 40-year-old “Albanian Eagle” scored the 21st knockout of his 23-fight career in the second round against Patrick Korte to retain his WBO European heavyweight title, pushing his KO ratio up to 91%.
Nelson Hysa told Queensberry Promotions’ Dev Sahni after his latest win, “I say to Frank Warren, please, I see here one boxer who is undefeated also, we are in the same family – WBO, WBA. I need to do one fight with Moses Itauma, if he is ready. I am ready, brother.”
He continued, “For me, it’s a pleasure to be in the ring with him. I want to ask big promoter, Frank Warren, to give me this match, I need this match, we need to show who is more good. So, I am waiting for this match.”
Dev Sahni questioned whether Hysa believes he could beat the Brit, who is widely regarded as the best prospect in the heavyweight division, to which he responded, “I am beaten? Anybody beat me? Brother, I am 23-zero, so I need now this match, so if the team of Moses is ready, I am ready, our team is ready, we will do a very beautiful fight.”
Hysa only debuted in May 2022, so has squeezed in all 23 bouts within just over three years, averaging almost eight fights per year, fighting twice in the same month on more than one occasion.
Hysa is ranked WBA #9 and WBO #11, and Itauma is WBO #1, WBA #3, IBF #7.
He has triumphed over four unbeaten opponents already in his career, three of which were 12-0, the exact same record that Itauma currently shares.
Itauma is just 20-years-old, half the age of 40-year-old Hysa, and has recently swept away the likes of Demsey McKean and Marius Wach. All of his KOs have come within just two rounds.
The Slovakian-born Brit is widely regarded as the heavyweight division’s top prospect and has been linked to a fight with Dillian Whyte in August, amongst other opponents, such as Otto Wallin.
It’s unclear who the southpaw from England will fight next, but an announcement from promoter Frank Warren is expected shortly.
