UNC HC, Patriots legend Bill Belichick breaks silence on Jordan Hudson affecting job

The New England Patriots moved on from Bill Belichick after the 2023-2024 season. He took a year off from coaching but was hired as the head coach at the University of North Carolina before the 2025 season.

Belichick has left his mark on NFL history. He won six Super Bowls as head coach of the New England Patriots and was at the forefront of their dynasty. However, his relationship with 24-year-old Jordan Hudson is making more headlines than the Tar Heels football program right now.

During an interview with CBS Morning News, Hudson was shown interrupting the interview and dictating which subjects Belichick would and would not be discussing. Belichick is aware of the headlines surrounding his personal life, but spoke with ESPN during the ACC Spring Meetings to clear things up.

“It’s a personal relationship, and she does not have anything to do with UNC football. I’m excited to be back in coaches’ meetings and getting ready for June. Then in August, we’ll be up in training camp. June will be a big recruiting month for us, and then in August, we’ll start getting ready for the season.”

Belichick will take over the UNC football program following a 6-7 season. The team went just 3-5 within the conference. Belichick’s reputation is that of a winning coach. He has won 302 games as a head coach in the NFL. His career win percentage sits at .647 as a head coach for 29 years.

Right now, his relationship with Hudson is proving to be a distraction for UNC football in the media. However, he seems focused on turning the program around more than anything else. He noted that he has spoken to his players about the recent attention to his personal life.

“I talked to the players when we meet with them,” Belichick said when asked if he has discussed the media’s attention to his personal life. “We want to make the players the best they can be and giving them the best opportunity on and off the field.”
