The UEFA Women’s Euro 2025 is in full swing with the quarterfinals beginning on July 16.
Eight countries — Sweden, Spain, Norway, France, England, Switzerland, Germany and Italy — will fight for their spots in the semifinals, as the gleam of the trophy gets brighter and closer.
These quarterfinal ties in 2025 include reigning champions England, world champions Spain, and 2022 beaten finalists Germany, meaning these matches will need exceptional performances to avoid elimination.
Who will go on to add their name to the illustrious history of Women’s Euros winners? The Sporting News looks at who holds the most titles across teams, players and coaches.
UEFA Women’s Euros winners: All-time list
The UEFA Women’s Euros has grown exponentially from its founding competition in 1984, where just four teams took part, to the world-class tournament that it now represents. Historically, Germany are the most successful nation with eight Euros titles (one of which came when they were still competing as West Germany in 1989).
Originally, due to the perceived unsuitability of football for women that led to the sport being banned in countries like England until 1970, the tournament was played with truncated halves of 35 minutes and a smaller ball.
However, since then, the competition has grown from strength to strength to develop into what it is today, with 16 teams vying to lift the Euros trophy. The 2025 edition is the biggest yet and is well on the way to smash the previous records set in 2022 — something reflected in the astounding prize money increase of 156% to a staggering €41 million.

Who has won the most Women’s Euros trophies?
In terms of nations, Germany holds the most titles, with an incredible eight wins from 13 tournaments. Their most recent was in 2013, where they beat Norway to the title.
Former stars Birgit Prinz and Nadine Angerer are the most successful players in Women’s Euros history, each having won the tournament five times.
Germany also boast the top goal-scorers ever in the competition, as both Inka Grings and Prinz have scored 10 each during their time on the pitch.
Sarina Wiegman, England’s head coach, became the first coach to win successive Euros with different teams after she moved from the Netherlands, who won in 2017, to the Lionesses, who emerged victorious in 2022.
However, she is not the coach with the most Euros tournament appearances. That honour is shared between Gero Bisanz with Germany, Even Pellerud with Norway and Hope Powell with England, who all led their sides to four Euros finals each.
