The Miami Dolphins may be on the verge of trading Tyreek Hill, according to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler.
Fowler says several NFL teams are monitoring the situation down in Miami to see if the Dolphins may be interested in trading for the star wideout.
“I have talked to a few teams who are at least monitoring his future a little bit,” Fowler said. “Could he be a potential trade target? Now, I know the Dolphins earlier this summer were telling teams, ‘No, we’re not trading Tyreek Hill.’ But they just wonder, is he going to be available? It could be wishful thinking, maybe they want him to be available. But he’s a player when I bring up to teams, ‘Hey, who is sort of a trade target you’re watching?’ they bring up Tyreek Hill. So, we’ll see. He’s a big option for Tua [Tagovailoa], that would be a major move if they did move away from him.
Many thought that once training camp started for the Dolphins that both the team and Hill would mend fences, and they would get back to business, but that hasn’t happened between the two parties.
There is still a lot of tension between Hill, his teammates, and the coaching staff.
It started with starting QB Tua Tagovilia, who called out Hill at the beginning of training camp for not being accountable for what he said at the end of last season when he said he wanted out of Miami after they didn’t make the playoffs.
It continued last week with head coach Mike McDaniel when Hill called him out for his play-calling on the goal line, which annoyed McDaniel, who quickly responded.
The trade deadline has passed, so the likelihood of him being traded is unlikely because the Dolphins would trigger a no-cap acceleration. Miami would take a $22.04 million cap charge in 2026 for Hill, but they wouldn’t have to pay him his $10 million salary this year.
