The Minnesota Twins are off to a dreadful start this season. They began 2025 by being swept in St. Louis by the Cardinals and have not recovered since then.
While they have performed a little bit better in recent weeks, they still are 7-12 and sit in fourth place in the American League Central, four games back of the first place Detroit Tigers.
While it’s still early in the season, the Twins may end up being sellers at the trade deadline if they cannot find their footing. One piece that could be traded is shortstop Carlos Correa.
Tim Kelly of Bleacher Report lists Correa as a likely trade candidate before the July 31 deadline.
“Injury concerns—and a slow start to 2025—aside, Correa did hit .310 with a 4.3 WAR in just 86 games a year ago. That’s superstar-level production, and he’s still only 30. It stands to reason that a contending team in need of a shortstop—or perhaps even a third baseman—would be interested in someone with an extended postseason resume,” Kelly wrote.

Correa is hitting just .164 to start the 2025 season. He has yet to hit a home run, has driven in just four runs and has a .473 OPS.
However, if he can stay healthy and get hot, teams will likely come calling for his services, assuming the Twins are out of contention by the trade deadline.
He helped the Houston Astros win their controversial World Series title in 2017. He’s also a three-time All-Star, a former Rookie of the Year, a Gold Glover, and a Platinum Glove winner.
The experience Correa brings to the table is valuable to any contending team. He still is only 30 years old and provides power from the right side of the plate when he’s at his best.
It will be interesting to see if the Twins can recover from their difficult start. If they can’t, look for Correa to be a name floated around in trade rumors.
