Real Madrid have recently appointed Xabi Alonso as their new head coach following the dismissal of Carlo Ancelotti last month.
Following an underwhelming run in the 2024-25 season and a change in manager, Alonso, a former Real Madrid player, is expected to make alterations to the squad to ensure a better stride in the Club World Cup and the upcoming campaign.
Along with new signings, some existing players in the Los Blancos squad are also anticipated to be seen in a more active role on the pitch. One such name is Turkish star, Arda Guler.
Guler arrived at Santiago Bernabeu from Fenerbahce in 2023, and despite being one of the promising up-and-coming talents, the 20-year-old was unable to move up in Ancelotti’s pecking order. Overall, he has made 55 appearances for Real Madrid in two seasons, registering 11 goals and nine assists.
However, with Alonso’s arrival, things are expected to change for the better for Guler, and former Turkey assistant coach Kenan Kocak believes the same.
What did Kenan Kocak say about Real Madrid’s Arda Guler and Xabi Alonso?
Kocak told Diario AS that Alonso’s approach as a manager is significantly ‘different’ from Ancelotti’s and will ‘benefit’ Guler.

“Xabi Alonso’s approach is very different from Ancelotti’s. I think Arda will benefit much more from it. I’m sure we’ll see a much more productive version of Arda Güler under Alonso,” he said.
“Arda and Xabi Alonso will make a great duo. Alonso’s style of play fits perfectly with Arda’s qualities,” added Kocak.
Arda has been included in Real Madrid’s squad for the Club World Cup. Los Blancos are set to lock horns with Saudi Pro League club Al-Hilal on June 18, at Hard Rock Stadium, Florida.
