Arguably no team in the NHL has been more busy this offseason than the Toronto Maple Leafs. They are also amongst the teams that have experienced one of the most pronounced roster turnovers this summer. And it appears that may well continue to be the case as the team is likely not done making moves before the start of the season.
A trio of Leafs players have been connected to the trade block recently according to insider Chris Johnston of The Athletic. Those three players in question being Nick Robertson, David Kampf and Calle Jarnkrok. It is rumored at least one, maybe more of these players could be on the move soon.
The most interesting of this bunch is the newly extended Nick Robertson, younger brother of the dynamic Jason Robertson of the Dallas Stars. Of the 3 players, his name has been the most frequent in trade rumors as a young player potentially in need of a change in scenery. However, he is also the player of this bunch the Leafs have been least willing to give up due to the untapped potential the squad still hope he has.
David Kampf is a curious one as well. He has fit in well in the Leafs system since he was signed 4 years ago, being a prevalent part of the teams penalty kill throughout his time there.
As for Calle Jarnkrok, he has been with the squad for 3 years as a solid middle 6 option. His latest season was largely derailed due to injuries.
The Maple Leafs have $1.9 million left in cap space. It will be fascinating to see what further moves they make from this point until the dawn of the new year and if those moves involve any of these 3 players seemingly on the block.
