Trent Alexander-Arnold set to play Club World Cup as Real Madrid agrees transfer fee with Liverpool

Real Madrid have struck gold — and they’re not waiting for the transfer window dust to settle.

In a move that puts plans into fast-forward, Los Blancos had reportedly agreed to pay Liverpool £10 million to bring Trent Alexander-Arnold to Madrid one month ahead of schedule (via The Times’ Paul Joyce).

The right-back, whose contract was set to expire at the end of June, had already made his intentions clear. But Real Madrid, with their eyes firmly on the Club World Cup next month, weren’t keen on playing the waiting game.

Thus, the La Liga giants have finally completed the deal and announced the signing of now-former Liverpool star  Trent Alexander-Arnold.

The club will pay a lump sum to Liverpool and take on his wages for June — getting their man just in time for the big tournament in Miami.

Club president Florentino Pérez and new manager Xabi Alonso were aligned from the start. Alonso, a former Red himself, pushed for Trent’s early arrival, eager to have him in the squad for the opener against Al Hilal on June 18.

“If we want to be world champions, we need players ready to make a difference,” said a source close to the coach.

Trent Alexander-Arnold to Real Madrid: How long is the contract?

Alexander-Arnold is set to sign a six-year deal and will join fellow England international Jude Bellingham in Madrid’s evolving setup. The plan? Make Real Madrid’s right side as lethal as their history demands.

While Liverpool stood firm in negotiations, the deal suits both parties. Real get their man in time to chase silverware, and Liverpool pocket a tidy sum for a player they were losing anyway. That’s what you call a mutual clearance.

And make no mistake — this isn’t just a quick fix. With Dani Carvajal sidelined and Madrid in need of fresh legs at the back, the 26-year-old is expected to take over as the club’s long-term right-back.

His delivery from deep and attacking instincts are tailor-made for Madrid’s style. And yes, fans can already imagine crosses flying in for Mbappe.

Alexander-Arnold will join the England camp this weekend before linking up with Madrid. From Anfield to the Bernabeu, he’s going from scouse to spouse — as Madrid tie the knot with one of the game’s finest pass-masters.
