Trent Alexander-Arnold makes his demands clear to sign new Liverpool contract

Liverpool’s Trent Alexander-Arnold has reportedly laid out two clear conditions to secure his future at the club.

With Real Madrid lurking in the background, ready to swoop for the defender, the Reds are under pressure to meet his demands — or risk losing one of their brightest stars.

The England international, now in the final six months of his contract, has caught the attention of Madrid. The Spanish giants reportedly made an approach on New Year’s Eve, only to be turned away by Liverpool.

However, rumors suggest Madrid could return with a £20.7 million offer or aim to sign Alexander-Arnold for free this summer.

The two demands made by Trent Alexander-Arnold to Liverpool

According to sources (via talkSPORT), Alexander-Arnold wants a new contract that extends his stay at Anfield until at least 2028. This three-year deal would take him into his 30s and provide long-term security at his boyhood club.

The second demand involves leadership. The 26-year-old right-back is eyeing the captain’s armband, currently held by Virgil van Dijk.

With Van Dijk nearing 34 and yet to renew his own contract, Alexander-Arnold sees an opportunity to lead Liverpool into a new era when the Dutchman leaves.

Meanwhile, Real Madrid’s interest adds a layer of intrigue. Reports suggest they are willing to offer Alexander-Arnold a substantial pay rise, potentially doubling his wages to around £400,000 per week.

His close friendship with Real Madrid star Jude Bellingham further fuels speculation.

What’s next for Liverpool?

Liverpool are determined to keep Alexander-Arnold, with talks ongoing to find a resolution.

The club also faces key decisions on the futures of other leaders, including Van Dijk and Mohamed Salah. Salah is reportedly close to agreeing to a new deal, but no official announcement has been made.

Liverpool fans will hope that their vice-captain’s loyalty wins out as they prepare for Sunday’s clash with Manchester United. But with Madrid watching closely, the clock is ticking for the Reds to secure Alexander-Arnold’s signature.
