Arsenal are desperately looking at options to improve their roster, especially in the attack. Apart from a prolific striker, the Gunners also need players on the flanks in the summer transfer window.
Manager Mikel Arteta believes that goals have been a major issue for the North London outfit. Kai Havertz remain their top scorer in the Premier League this season with nine strikes despite getting injured a few months ago.
While they chase a prolific number 9, they are also looking at wingers who can chip in with goals regularly, mainly to spread the goalscoring across the forward line.
Therefore, Arsenal were interested in bringing Bayern Munich star Leroy Sane to North London. The 29-year-old winger’s current contract is expiring this summer, and hence the Gunners saw this as an opportunity to lure him away.
But according to Christian Falk, Bayern transfer insider, Sane is all set to sign a new contract with Bayern Munich. He decided after weighing all his offers.
Falk’s reports also highlighted that a key reason for Sane’s contract renewal was the presence of his good friend Jamal Musiala. The duo wanted to continue in the same team.

What are Arsenal’s alternative options?
Arsenal were interested in Sane because he would have been a free player in June. The 29-year-old may not be in his prime, but he has Premier League experience with Manchester City and could have been a good squad player.
So it is not a big loss for Arteta as his primary targets remain intact. Reportedly, the North Londoners are chasing Athletic Bilbao’s Nico Williams and another Bayern winger, Kingsley Coman.
They are monitoring several other wingers, but for now, Williams remains the prime target.
They need players who can compete with Leandro Trossard and Gabriel Martinelli on the flanks whilst removing the pressure of Bukayo Saka’s shoulders of scoring goals every week.
Overall, Arsenal are preparing for a big summer transfer window with plenty of incoming players at different positions. Hence, the Sane snub is a mere diversion in their long journey.
