Trae Young injury update is bad news for Atlanta Hawks

Trae Young is the center of the orbit for the Atlanta Hawks.

The planets got thrown out of whack a bit on Wednesday night.

Young had to leave the game and go to the locker room after hurting his right leg against the Brooklyn Nets.

It was a pretty nasty-looking injury.

Young was defending under the basket, and one of his teammates was knocked over toward Young.

Trae had his right leg planted on the floor when his teammate landed on it, and it bent at an awkward angle.

Young had played just seven minutes before leaving, scoring six points with an assist before departing.

So far this season, Young was off to his usual kind of start. He entered Wednesday averaging 20.8 points and 9.5 assists per game.

His shooting has been off, at just 36.4% from the field and 19.2% from 3-point range.

The Hawks really can’t afford a Young absence. They don’t have a ton of playmaking without him.

Their lineup would likely be bigger and better defensively if Young misses time, but their entire offense would function differently.

Hawks fans will be hoping that Young isn’t hurt too bad, but it didn’t look great.
