Shane van Gisbergen will remain with Trackhouse Racing in the NASCAR Cup Series for years to come.
The three-time Australian Supercars champion has won three races in his debut full-time season at the highest level this season, in addition to the inaugural win he earned in Chicago in 2023, and has established himself as the elite road racer currently in the division.
‘SVG’ will be seeking his fourth straight Cup Series road course win on Sunday at Watkins Glen.
Following his 2023 win at Chicago, which came in a one-off ‘Project 91’ entry for Trackhouse, which led to the organization convincing the driver to come stateside and embark on a NASCAR journey which included a full Xfinity Series campaign last season.
“I feel like Trackhouse Racing is my home,” van Gisbergen said in a statement from the team.
“Trackhouse gave me the opportunity to race at Chicago in 2023. That was just a one-race deal, and everything that has happened since then is because of the chance Justin (Marks, Trackhouse founder and owner) took on me. The men and women at Trackhouse have helped me feel at home in this new challenge, and I’ve been loving every minute of it. We still have a lot of work to do, but I couldn’t be happier.”
Justin Marks, principal owner of Trackhouse, has a driver that can win multiple races a year, lock into the playoffs and add value to his charter as well.
“We are getting to watch one of the superstars of racing,” Marks said in the release. “What we are asking him to do carries a high degree of difficulty. He’s moved to the other side of the world, learned a new form of racing and at times dominated the competition. He’s one of the greatest.”
