Tottenham are back in Europe’s top competition after sealing a spot in the 2025/26 UEFA Champions League.
Ange Postecoglou led Spurs to a first trophy in 17 years at the back end of 2024/25 as they beat Manchester United in the Europa League final in Bilbao.
That secured a ‘back-door’ spot in the UCL, but Spurs’ 17th place finish in the Premier League cost Postecoglou his job, with Thomas Frank replacing him in North London.
2025/26 will be Tottenham’s first experience of the new league phase UCL format with their last appearance in the competition coming back in
It’s Tottenham’s seventh season competing in the Champions League with their best run coming in 2018/19 as Mauricio Pochettino’s team lost out to Liverpool in the final.

Tottenham Champions League first phase opponents
The league phase draw was held on Aug. 28, 2025 with Frank’s first eight games now confirmed.
As per the updated format – now into it’s second season – Tottenham will play eight games against eight different opponents with four matches at home and four away.
The top eight sides in the overall league phase will qualify directly for the Round of 16 knockouts, with teams placed 9th to 24th entering the playoffs.
