Tottenham Hotspur have entered the summer transfer window with a lot of intensity, and they have already wrapped up a couple of deals.
New manager Thomas Frank is keen to make wholesale changes to the roster as the Lilywhites will be featuring in the Champions League next season.
They have already announced the signing of Mohammed Kudus from West Ham and have triggered the release clause of Nottingham Forest star Morgan Gibbs-White.
Spurs are also eyeing a move for Crystal Palace’s young midfield sensation, Adam Wharton.
Amid all the major incoming players, there has been a significant change in their summer plans as Cristian Romero is all set to stay with Spurs.
According to The Athletic, La Liga giants Atletico Madrid have stopped their pursuit of Romero after failing to match Tottenham’s hefty asking price of €70m ($81m).

Frank always wanted to keep hold of the Argentine, who is one of the most experienced players on this Tottenham roster.
Romero was also named as the Europa League player of the tournament last season after Tottenham triumphed over Manchester United in the final.
Why did Atletico Madrid give up the chase on Romero?
Atletico Madrid were desperate to sign Romero this summer, and even manager Diego Simeone expressed his interest publicly.
However, they grew frustrated with the overall transfer saga and have ultimately decided to shift their focus to other targets.
The 27-year-old’s current contract with Tottenham runs out in 2027, and reportedly, they have offered him a new contract despite his wish to depart from North London.
Romero has been a key figure for Tottenham in their Europa League triumph last season, but he only featured in 26 matches last season due to injuries.
Interestingly, the tally of 26 matches was his lowest in terms of appearances in Romero’s four campaigns at Tottenham Hotspur stadium.
If he continues to stay at Spurs beyond the summer, then he could well be a big part of Frank’s rebuild, as he values the World Cup winner very highly.
