Tottenham star reveals what’s ‘good for the dressing room’ amid Postecoglou sack rumours

Tottenham Hotspur were in a precarious situation in the Premier League, but just then they won the Europa League and ended their trophy drought. While it has been a couple of weeks since they triumphed over Manchester United, recent reports suggest that the management are looking to sack Ange Postecoglou.

They are not satisfied with the disastrous Premier League season, where Spurs finished 17th and are looking ahead to the Australian manager despite his heroics in the Europa League.

It was a chaotic season for the Lillywhites as they suffered multiple injuries, which forced Postecoglou to focus on one competition, and therefore, he took his foot off the pedal in the Premier League, which resulted in the disaster.

But many felt he would get another year when he ended Tottenham’s 41-year-old European trophy drought.

Recently, in an interview, Tottenham fullback Pedro Porro has publicly backed Postecoglou and suggested that it will be a major blow to their dressing room environment if they decide to sack the Australian tactician.

“I’m not thinking about club football right now because I am here with Spain and we have two important games this week, but him continuing would be good for the dressing room,” said the 25-year-old in an interview with the Guardian.

“He has built a very good group and coaches also need time. In the league, things didn’t go well, but he makes you win a trophy. That’s important too. The people in the dressing room with weight have to understand that, but as I say, I’m thinking about the national team now; there will be time for that.”

“I’m very close to him. He’s been an important coach for me and it’s thanks to him that I have brought out my [best] football these two years. It’s complicated because in football in general things don’t always depend on you but, honestly, in the team – I think, in my opinion – we’re happy with him.”

Who could be Postecoglou’s successor at Tottenham?

It is reported that Tottenham have decided to sack Postecoglou from his position. They waited for the emotions to settle after the Europa League, and now in a few days they will reportedly let the Australian know about his fate.

Tottenham are considering Brentford’s Thomas Frank and Fulham’s Marco Silva. At this moment, reportedly, Frank is leading the race to become the new boss at Spurs.

There were some rumours about Simeone Inzaghi also considering a move to Tottenham, but the Inter Milan manager is close to joining Saudi Arabia this summer. He is strongly linked with a move to Al Hilal.
