Tottenham set to hijack Man Utd target after Thomas Frank appointment

Tottenham Hotspur have appointed former Brentford tactician Thomas Frank as their new manager, replacing Ange Postecoglou. The Dane has been rewarded for his exceptional work with the Bees, and therefore, Daniel Levy placed his trust in Frank.

Upon Frank’s insistence, Tottenham have entered the race to sign Brentford star Bryan Mbuemo, who is strongly linked with a move to Manchester United.

However, as per Sky Sports, Tottenham have held initial discussions with the Cameroonian forward over a possible move to North London. They are keen to hijack Manchester United’s deal for Mbuemo.

Reports suggest that the 25-year-old is intrigued by Frank’s move to Tottenham and is open to the proposition of reuniting with his former Brentford manager.

United are desperate to freshen up their lacklustre attack, and therefore, they have wrapped up the signing of Matheus Cunha from Wolves and want to pair the Brazilian with Mbuemo.

However, their opening offer of £55 million was reportedly rejected by Brentford. They are understood to be valuing Mbeumo at over £60 million.

Where could Mbuemo end up this summer?

Apart from Mbuemo, Tottenham are also interested in Bournemouth’s Antoine Semenyo and Southampton’s Tyler Dibling. The Lilywhites are actively looking to bring in impactful players after they finished 17th in the Premier League under Postecoglou.

While United are hell bent on snapping up Mbuemo, the appointment of Frank and the relationship that he shares with the Danish tactician may help Tottenham in hijacking this deal.

Frank signed him from Troyes just after a single year as Brentford manager in the Championship, and the duo has guided the Bees into the Premier League and then made Brentford a stable team in the English top tier.

Mbuemo netted 20 goals last season as he took over the reins of the club since Ivan Toney’s departure to Saudi Arabia. So Tottenham have realistic chances, but United continue to lead the race.

A second offer from Manchester United is imminent. Also, as per reports, Mbuemo has demanded a whopping £250,000-a-week salary to United, but Tottenham, in any condition, wouldn’t match such figures for the 25-year-old.
