Tottenham complete shock swoop for PSG outcast

Tottenham Hotspur have done decent business in this summer transfer window, especially with the signature of Xavi Simons from RB Leipzig.

However, Thomas Frank was desperate to sign another striker and therefore, Spurs were in the market for another forward on deadline.

They have eventually landed PSG wantaway striker Randal Kolo Muani on a temporary loan deal to add depth to their striker position as per reports via Fabrizio Romano.

The Frenchman has reportedly joined the North London outfit on a straightforward loan deal with no obligation or option to buy. Spurs have paid €5m loan fee to PSG for the 26-year-old forward.

Kolo Muani was desperately looking for a move out of Paris as he is not in Luis Enrique’s plans and had spent the second half of last season at Juventus on loan.

The 26-year-old was keen to return to Juventus this summer and did everything in their power to achieve that but eventually the clubs couldn’t reach an agreement, and Spurs saw that opportunity and made the move.

Why did Tottenham make a move for Kolo Muani?

Tottenham haven’t had any luck with their injuries this season as Dejan Kulusevski and James Maddison are out on the sidelines with long term issues.

Striker Dominic Solanke became the latest victim of injury for Spurs as he missed the 1-0 defeat against Bournemouth and Frank is hopeful that he will be back against West Ham on September 13.

With growing doubts around Solanke’s injury, Spurs decided to sign Kolo Muani, who will now be Richarlison’s direct competitor for the striker’s spot.

The France international is also capable of playing in different positions in attack owing for his pace, dribbling, ball striking and finishing skills.

Kolo Muani had a solid loan stint with Juventus where he netted 10 goals in 22 games across all competitions for the Serie A giants.

The Frenchman moved to PSG in 2023 after his impressive performances in the Bundesliga for Eintracht Frankfurt for whopping £76.4m transfer fee.

However, he never really managed to cement his place in the PSG starting eleven and completely fell out of favour under Enrique.

It will be interesting to see Kolo Muani featuring in the Premier League, playing under Frank’s attacking system at Tottenham.
