Tottenham captain Son Heung-min linked to shock move out of Premier League

The report came out of nowhere Wednesday evening.

Son Heung-min, the Tottenham Hotspur captain, is being pursued by Major League Soccer.

Specifically, LAFC is seeking to acquire Son, according to The Athletic’s Paul Tenorio.

“LAFC is pushing hard to sign Tottenham Hotspur star Son Heung-min in this summer window, according to multiple sources briefed on talks,” Tenorio writes. “No major progress as yet, but LAFC trying hard to get the South Korean superstar for 2025 and beyond.”

Son just got to hoist the Europa League trophy for Spurs a couple months ago.

He’s 33 years old, and he has dealt with injury woes, but it’d still be a surprise to see him leave Tottenham.

Son joined Spurs in 2015 from Bayer Leverkusen, and he has grown into a club legend.

The attacking player has appeared in 333 matches for Tottenham and netted 127 goals.

LAFC has made splashes before since joining MLS, and this would be a big one.

Bringing in Son would capture the attention of his huge South Korean fanbase. It would also be a big-name move ahead of the 2026 World Cup in the U.S.

Tenorio’s report indicates that there hasn’t been much progress made, but for the report to come out at all indicates LAFC really wants this to happen. The soccer world will wait and see what comes next.
