Top transfer target to snub Bayern Munich after parents meet with European rivals

Bayern Munich are planning to bring in fresh talent during the summer transfer window as Vincent Kompany  rebuilds the squad on his terms.

One key name, who Kompany and the Bayern Munich hierarchy desperately want to bring in, is Bayer Leverkusen star Florian Wirtz.

The 22-year-old sensation is already established as one of the best young talents in the world and he looks set to leave Leverkusen in the months ahead.

Bayern Munich have closely monitored his rise through the ranks at the BayArena as a long-term target for the newly-crowned German champions. However, they saw an offer rejected last season, but they are not giving up.

However, it will not be an easy deal to crack, as they will fight for Wirtz with Real Madrid and Manchester City, also in the race – with both clubs having greater financial power.

Previous reports indicate Bayern Munich have reached an agreement with the player and are offering a bumper pay-day, but they are not ready to cough up the €150m [$168m] transfer fee demanded by Leverkusen.

As the situation evolves, the latest update from the Daily Mail claims Wirtz’s family arrived in Manchester and met with City’s representatives as the Citizens see him as the ideal long-term replacement for Kevin de Bruyne, who is leaving the club at the end of this season.

The report suggests the 22-year-old, who was earlier not ready to move to England, has now softened his stance.

His father, Hans reportedly wants him to take the next step and join Bayern Munich this summer, while his mother, Karin, prefers him to stay at Leverkusen for another year before making a call on his future.

City officials are confident of landing Wirtz, despite the competition they face, and they have had a key face-to-face conversation with his parents to try and lure him away from Germany.

Unlike Bayern Munich, City are able to pay Leverkusen’s asking price and that could be a turning point in the transfer race for Kompnay.

As part of the current campaign, Wirtz has netted 16 goals and provided 13 assists in 44 appearances for the club across all competitions. That includes 10 goals an 12 assists in the Bundesliga.

Aside from Bayern Munich’s Michael Olise, no other player in the Bundesliga this season has racked up double-digit numbers in both, goals and assists.

Bayern Munich are desperately trying to add Wirtz,to their thrilling attack – alongside Jamal Musiala, Olise and Harry Kane, to forming a dominant forward line in 2025/26.
