Top 12 men’s U.S. pound-for-pound fighters in boxing: Mythical rankings starring Crawford, Benavidez, ‘Boots’ Ennis

Jaron Ennis continued his progress in the ring when he beat Uisma Lima via first-round knockout on October 11.

The former welterweight champion won interim super welterweight gold and could be on a path to face Vergil Ortiz Jr. in 2026. Ortiz must do his part by beating Erickson Lubin in November.

If all goes according to plan for him, ‘Boots’ could be well on his way to reaching the top of the pound-for-pound rankings down the road.

For now, Ennis’ win secured him the ninth spot on The Sporting News’ inaugural men’s U.S. pound-for-pound rankings.

He may have a long way to go to reach the top, where Terence Crawford confirmed his status as the best in the U.S. following a massive win against Canelo Alvarez.

Could Crawford have some competition at the end of the year, thanks to late fights for David Benavidez and Jesse “Bam” Rodriguez? Meanwhile, Devin Haney and Brian Norman Jr. face off, and the winner could determine who stays on the P4P list.

Someone to keep an eye on is Gervonta Davis, who has a lot on the line professionally when he faces influencer and disruptor Jake Paul.

The best in the the U.S.: Terence Crawford

If there were any doubts regarding Crawford’s status in boxing, “Bud” shut them down with a dominant performance against Canelo Alvarez.

A Golden Gloves winner and seven-time medalist, the Omaha-born Crawford schooled Canelo to become the undisputed super middleweight champion.

A four-division champion, the 38-year-old is in a rare field to become undisputed in three divisions (super lightweight, welterweight, super middleweight). He moved up two weight divisions to win gold at 168.

In a league of his own and now a box-office draw, Crawford is undisputed and undeniable.

Signature wins for Crawford include Canelo, Errol Spence Jr., Shawn Porter, and Amir Khan.
