Titans trade rumor gives Chiefs, Patriots and Chargers deadline target on offense

The Tennessee Titans are primed to be sellers at the trade deadline.

The Titans are in the midst of a rebuild and are currently 1-7. If Tennessee wants to get its rebuild going, it’ll sell off pieces to acquire more draft capital, something they are widely rumored to be interested in doing.

One player who appears to be available on the trade market is running back Tony Pollard, although Justin Melo of The Draft Network reports that the Titans’ asking price is currently too high, at least according to one team.

“Initial asking price on RB Tony Pollard is ‘a bit high,'” Melo reported. “One team that asked felt that way. I’d still say temper expectations on a return.”

The important thing here isn’t the asking price, which is likely to come down the closer we get to the deadline, but rather the fact that Pollard is available.

It makes sense, though. Pollard holds more value now because he has one more year left on his deal after this season and he can be cut without much penalty in 2026 if things don’t pan out in a new home.

Despite the fact that he’s stuck on one of the worst offenses in the NFL (and has been since 2024), Pollard, who can make an impact both as a runner and pass-catcher, has remained productive.

He managed to tally over 1,300 yards from scrimmage in 2024 and has 555 through eight games this season (424 rushing).

Chiefs, Chargers, Patriots trade rumors

Three teams that could come calling for Pollard are the Kansas City Chiefs, New England Patriots and Los Angeles Chargers.

According to Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer, the Chiefs and Patriots are both looking around for a running back.

“The Chiefs have sniffed around on a defensive tackle and now are drilling down a little more at running back with Isiah Pacheco banged up. The Patriots are another team that has looked at running back, with edge also on the radar there,” Breer reported.

Meanwhile, the Chargers have been mentioned in trade rumors on several occasions since Omarion Hampton went on injured reserve.

In fact, FOX Sports’ Ralph Vacchiano reported last week that Los Angeles was “desperate” to add a back, but it remains to be seen if their urgency level has changed a bit with Kimani Vidal doing a good job holding down the fort.

As Breer points out, the Chiefs now have an injury to Isiah Pacheco to worry about, and neither Pacheco (4.2 yards per carry) nor Hunt (4.0) have been very effective, although a lot of that has to do with poor blocking upfront by a Kansas City offensive line that ranks 23rd in run-block win rate.

The Patriots lost Antonio Gibson for the season and are now dealing with an injury to starter Rhamondre Stevenson, with leaves New England with TreVeyon Henderson and not much else.

Pollard will be on the high end of the running back options available at the trade deadline, but if he can be had at the right price, we could see the Chiefs, Chargers or Patriots bringing him in.
