Titans fans quickly discovering what Steelers already knew about Dan Moore

When the Tennessee Titans handed left tackle Dan Moore a four-year, $82 million deal, Pittsburgh Steelers fans got a good chuckle.

That’s because Moore was one of the worst left tackles in the sport during his days with the Steelers. In 66 career games with Pittsburgh, Moore surrendered 34 sacks and 185 pressures and and gave up the most sacks in the NFL last season (12).

Fast forward to 2025 and Moore is off to a rough start. The 26-year-old gave up four pressures in his Titans debut in Week 1 against the Denver Broncos and oftentimes looked lost during the contest.

Moore’s 38.1 overall Pro Football Focus grade ranked 80th among 81 tackles, and his pass-blocking grade of 26.4 and run-blocking grade of 46.1 ranked 74th and 68th, respectively.

“Not only did Moore blow blocks, he had a few players where he literally didn’t know his assignment,” fan and analyst Tyler Rowland said of Moore’s tape.

“Dan Moore Jr. missed more blocks than any other tackle in the NFL on Sunday,” fellow Titans analyst and fan Justin Graver said.

Why the Titans wanted to invest $84 million in Moore is something that needs to be studied. It didn’t make sense then and it’s looking even worse now.

Unfortunately for the Steelers, they also have a major issue at left tackle.

Moore’s replacement, Broderick Jones, was awful in Week 1. The 2023 first-round pick surrendered four pressures and three sacks against the New York Jets in his first game as the team’s full-time left tackle.

Before you say it’s too early to panic for both Jones and Moore, just remember that this isn’t the first time we’ve seen them play poorly. Jones has been bad since last season and Moore was never good in Pittsburgh.

The difference is that the Steelers don’t have anywhere near as much invested in Jones as the Titans do in Moore.
