The Kansas City Chiefs, for most, despite being 0-2, are still well in the playoff hunt as the belief in Andy Reid’s team is still high.
Given the history of the team under Patrick Mahomes and their ability to withstand just about anything, some see this version of the Chiefs as one that simply isn’t as good as the ones before it.
At 0-2, the chances of making the playoffs are slim, but still manageable; at 0-3? Yeah, things get a whole lot tougher.
But is it time to put a line through the Chiefs as a playoff team?
For ESPN’s Bill Barnwell, no, but things have to change drastically.
“Offensively, the most realistic way to describe the Chiefs’ problems is a complete and utter lack of anything to hang their hat on,” Barnwell wrote. “Good offenses have something to fall back on as their core strength. It’s an average, maybe below-average, team that has faced two clearly better opponents. The Chiefs have to be somebody else to become themselves again.”

Chiefs still playoff-bound…right?
For most, the answer is yes, but that is predicated on Reid’s team slaying the plucky New York Giants at MetLife Stadium.
Do that, and you have life, with a brutal schedule to come.
But lose, and all of a sudden, the 0-3 Chiefs will face the Baltimore Ravens next, and then the Detroit Lions two weeks later, so it could go south in a hurry.
Am I ready to write off the Chiefs? Absolutely not, but lose to the Giants, and goodness me, the noise surrounding the NFL kings being dethroned will be deafening.
Surely Mahomes and Co. steady the ship, right?
