Naz Reid proved his value to the Minnesota Timberwolves this season on a return trip to the Western Conference Finals.
Now, Reid has a big contract decision to make.
Reid has a $15 million player option on his contract with Minnesota. He can opt in and play the 2025-26 season at that rate for the Timberwolves, or he can opt out and seek a new deal from anyone.
NBA insider Jake Fischer wrote on Sunday “many around the league expect last season’s Sixth Man of the Year to decline.”
Reid will surely have lots of suitors.

Still just 25 years old, the 6-foot-9 Reid is one of the most unique players in the NBA.
He’s the rare big guy sixth man. This season, he averaged a career-high 14.2 points, 6.0 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game as he continues to improve.
Reid also shot 37.9% from 3, his second-best mark behind the season prior’s 41.4%.
He almost certainly will get more than $15 million per year on the open market, so opting out of his player option makes a lot of sense.
A bidding war could ensue, especially if a team decides it’s time to make Reid a starter.
Minnesota will have to decide whether it can afford to keep one of its more exciting players.
