Timberwolves’ Mike Conley retirement plans made clear by Anthony Edwards after season-ending loss

Mike Conley has accomplished a lot throughout his long NBA career.

But the Grizzlies legend and current Timberwolves point guard is missing one thing: an NBA championship. At 37 years old, that dream stayed a bit out of reach again as Minnesota’s season ended Wednesday night at the hands of the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Conley wasn’t at his best in the series against a tough, physical OKC defense, but he doesn’t plan on being done.

It was actually Timberwolves superstar Anthony Edwards who made it most clear that Conley hopes to be back in Minnesota next season.

“Nobody’s gonna work harder than me this summer,” Edwards told reporters after the loss. “I’ll try to make it happen again for Mike.”

Conley has another year remaining on his contract in Minnesota, so if he stays in the league, it makes sense that he’d still be with the Wolves. He’ll be due about $10.77 million.

The No. 4 pick way back in 2007 just completed his 18th NBA season. He started 64 games in the regular season, averaging 8.2 points and 4.5 assists per game.

It’s been clear in multiple postgame press conferences this season just how much Conley’s mentorship has meant to Edwards. And it looks like Ant wants to run it back with his veteran point guard once more.
