Timberwolves lose Game 4 despite leading in virtually every team stat category

The Game 4 loss to the Thunder will be a tough pill to swallow for quite some time for Minnesota fans if they don’t pull off the series comeback.

Not only did they barely lose the game, but for anyone who didn’t watch it, the team stats would appear to show that Minnesota did win it.

What statistical categories did Minnesota lead in Game 4?

Here’s a look at all of the stats that Minnesota led in the team stat category for Game 4:

Obviously, points are all that matter to determine a winner, but it’s incredible to look at this list and know that Minnesota lost.

I think that’s what will make this a tough one to get over, knowing the difference between a 2-2 and 3-1 series going into a Game 5 on the road nevertheless.

This list shows a lot, but it doesn’t show some of the major categories that the Thunder led.

The Thunder had seven fewer turnovers than Minnesota’s 21 in the game.

Turnovers are momentum killers and give the other team extra opportunities.

The Thunder had eight more stocks (steals + blocks), with two more blocks and six more steals.

Although the Timberwolves led in FG%, 3P% and FT%, they were all just slightly better percentages, so they weren’t too far apart there.

At the end of the day, the fine margins like the hustle plays and execution in the bigger moments are what will determine such a close game like this down the stretch.
