Tijjani Reijnders has been a prominent name in Manchester City’s reported transfer target list for the ongoing summer transfer window.
Reijnders has caught the eyes of several clubs including Man City with his impressive efforts on the pitch for AC Milan in the 2024-25 campaign, registering 15 goals and five assists in 54 appearances across competitions.
While several reports have already suggested that Man City have reached an agreement with AC Milan to sign Reijnders, an official announcement is awaited.
While speaking to Voetbalzone and other Dutch media on Wednesday, Reijnders was asked about the progress on his potential move to the Etihad. The 26-year-old refrained from giving out details ahead of official confirmation from either club.
“Is it true that I have already agreed personally? There are still a few final details to be ironed out. It’s a matter of waiting and seeing. I can’t say any more about it. I am still an AC Milan player and I have to respect that. I’m also waiting to see what the clubs will do,” said Reijnders.
The Dutchman was also asked about what he anticipates about his experience following a potential move to Man City.

What did Tijjani Reijnders say about his potential transfer to Man City?
Reporters also asked Reijnders if he is worried about the lack of ‘freedom’ he might face on the pitch after potentially joining Pep Guardiola’s squad. The player replied that he believes he can become a ‘more complete midfielder’ at Man City.
“Am I afraid that the ‘freedom’ in my game will be lost under Guardiola? We’ll have to wait and see if that happens. There’s always room for development, in every respect, especially as a midfielder. There are so many things you can develop. I can become a more complete midfielder there, if the deal goes through.”
Speaking about his current style of playing, Reijnders described himself as a ‘modern midfielder’ and added,
“I think I’m a modern midfielder. And I’m always fit, which is also an advantage. Fortunately, I’ve always been fit so far and I hope to stay that way for as long as possible.”
With his contract at San Siro valid until the summer of 2030, it remains to be seen how Reijnders’ potential transfer to Man City unfolds in the upcoming weeks.
