Is it possible that another team in the American League Central would trade with the Detroit Tigers? It can’t be ruled out for several reasons.
Ultimately, the Tigers arguably have the best farm system in Major League Baseball. If a squad like the Minnesota Twins could get their hands on some of their top prospects for some of their better big league players, it’s very possible that Minnesota would go that direction if the other offers aren’t up to par.
The Athletic believes that it could be a possibility, noting that Jhoan Duran, arguably one of the top five relievers in baseball when he’s at his best, could be a potential fit in a deal for the Tigers.

“Duran has three dominant pitches and the unhittable results to match, pairing a triple-digit fastball with two swing-and-miss breaking balls for a 2.40 ERA in four MLB seasons. Minnesota’s closer for the past three years, Duran often overpowers hitters. And until Shohei Ohtani got to him on Tuesday night, he had gone more than 70 innings (dating back to last season) without allowing a homer.
“Duran is one of the league’s best relievers, still cheap and under team control through 2027, so the Twins will likely ask for the moon and might be able to get it somewhere,” they wrote.
Detroit hasn’t played well over its last 10, going 1-9 in that stretch. It’s an unfortunate situation for the Tigers to be in, but it also presents the front office with a perfect opportunity to make the necessary moves.
The Tigers clearly need bullpen help, and Duran would bring that with his electric fastball that reaches 100-plus miles per hour with ease.
