Tigers listed as landing spot for $3.85 million Red Sox All-Star

The Detroit Tigers are off to a red-hot start and currently have the best record in all of Major League Baseball. They currently have command in the American League Central as well, leading the division by six games over the Minnesota Twins.

However, there are areas of the roster they could look to address. They will almost certainly be buyers at the trade deadline this summer.

One area that they could look to address is speed at the top of the lineup.

Detroit hasn’t stolen a lot of bases, but Bleacher Report’s Zachary D. Rymer believes they could solve this by trading for Jarren Duran.

“They ought to be in World Series or bust mode after a 40-22 start to the year, and adding Duran would further super-charge an offense that has been a pleasant surprise. It needs Duran’s speed, as the Tigers’ 21 stolen bases are the fewest in MLB,” wrote Rymer.

Duran is hitting .273/.318/.424 with four home runs, 35 RBI, 13 stolen bases and a .743 OPS this year with the Boston Red Sox. He could potentially move to center field and allow Detroit to shift Javier Baez back to the infield.

This trade proposal would have Detroit sending right-hander Jackson Jobe and No. 3 prospect Bryce Rainer to Boston. It would be quite the haul to give up, but the Tigers need to act now while their window is open.

Duran would give them the speed they need to create havoc on the basepaths and score even more runs.

It might be worth it to give the Red Sox a call about his services.

We’ll see if the Tigers decide to pursue him.
