History never stops for No. 13. Months a year after announcing her retirement from club and international soccer, Alex Morgan is headed to the rafters in San Diego, becoming the first Wave FC player to accomplish the feat.
The list of Morgan’s accomplishments are endless, but the star’s impact on the pitch is immeasurable.
“Alex’s legacy goes far beyond goals and accolades. She helped lay the foundation for this Club and elevated the standard for what women’s soccer is today,” said Wave FC Governor Lauren Leichtman. “She made this city her home, inspired our fans and community, and helped define who we are. Her impact will be felt for generations, and it’s only fitting that her number becomes a permanent part of Wave FC history.”
Throughout her three seasons with the Wave, Morgan recorded 23 goals and nine assists to become the club’s all-time leading scorer. On the U.S. Women’s National Team, she scored 123 goals throughout 224 caps, ranking her fifth among the all-time scoring leaders.
Additionally, Morgan won two Women’s World Cup titles, two Olympic medals and one NWSL Shield victory.
