Erik Reynolds surely spent time dreaming at some point in his life of what his first points in the NBA might look like.
His dream didn’t look like this.
The Oklahoma City Thunder rookie, making his NBA Summer League debut in Las Vegas, scored for the wrong team.
Reynolds momentarily forgot where he was going and delivered a soft righty floater off the glass for 2 for the Brooklyn Nets.

The confusion came off a jump ball in Reynolds’ defensive half. When the ball came right to him and he was open near the basket, his scoring instincts took over.
Ironically, Nets coach Jordi Fernandez was on the ESPN broadcast at the time, too.
Thunder guard Erik Reynolds forgot which way his team was going during Summer League.
“Erik Reynolds scored about 2,400 points in college at St. Joe’s and he just scored his first two points for the Nets.”

As the broadcast pointed out, Reynolds was a prolific scorer at St. Joe’s.
Sometimes, the brain synapses just fire in the wrong direction for a moment too long.
For Reynolds, that meant his first NBA basket is one he’ll want to forget, rather than one he’ll never forget.
