The Oklahoma City Thunder finished an NBA-best 68-14, as they hope to bring home a championship this postseason.
They finished as the No. 1 seed in the Western Conference last season as well but were eliminated in the second round by the Dallas Mavericks.
If they suffer a similar fate in this year’s playoffs, the Thunder could look to acquire Phoenix Suns guard Devin Booker, Grant Hughes of Bleacher Report predicts.
“Something would have to go conspicuously wrong in the playoffs for the Oklahoma City Thunder to consider a roster shakeup, but is it that hard to imagine a postseason run that ends early because OKC can’t reliably generate enough offense when Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is off the floor?” Hughes questioned.
“After all, that’s exactly what happened last year,” Hughes concluded.
The competition for Booker’s services would imaginably be stiff, as he’s still only 27 years old and has proven he can be a vital piece of a championship-contending team. However, OKC might just be able to put forth the best package.
“If we get an OKC flameout, the call for change will be loud,” Hughes noted. “The Thunder have a trove of picks that could give the Suns exactly the kind of rebuilding war chest they currently lack—along with plenty of matching salary that wouldn’t clog up their cap sheet for the next half-decade.”

Booker and Gilgeous-Alexander would be a terrific fit next to each other, as both can take turns operating as the main floor general and getting a bucket.
Booker could also thrive in OKC with a plethora of perimeter defenders by his side, as he has proven he can be an asset on that side of the floor with adequate help.
