Thomas Tuchel claims ‘nothing has changed’ despite Man City star’s omission from England squad

The uncertainties about Jack Grealish’s future at Manchester City continue.

After receiving limited minutes on the pitch at Man City in the last two seasons, several reports have suggested that Grealish would not be included in the squad for the upcoming Club World Cup.

Earlier, Man City head coach Pep Guardiola addressed the English star’s limited game time and said,

“Of course Jack has to play. He’s an unbelievable player that has to play football every three days. It didn’t happen this season and last season either. He needs to do it. With us or in another place. It’s a question for Jack, his agent and the club,” said the Catalan manager.

Grealish has been on the left out of the England national squad for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers and, head coach Thomas Tuchel has shared his take on the winger’s situation.

What did Thomas Tuchel say about Man City’s Jack Grealish?

Tuchel heaped praise (comments via GOAL) on Grealish and his abilities and despite the 29-year-old’s recent omission from his squad, the German manager assured that ‘nothing has changed.’

“I love Jack for his personality and of course his talent. He is a very unique player who can handle big pressure on the field. He is never shy of pressure. It’s the opposite. He grows in big matches but he’s a player who needs minutes and minutes and minutes and simply does not get them for a very long time. That’s basically everything. Nothing has changed,” said Tuchel.

Tuchel, then spoke about the chances of Grealish not being a part of the Club World Cup with Man City, and added,

“I have maybe the same information as you that City are thinking of not taking him to the Club World Cup. So he needs to make himself available by playing. I think it’s one of his key strengths.”

“To go every three days and get better and better with every minute that he has in his legs. That’s what is missing, nothing else. I have spoken to him after the first international camp and very shortly after the FA Cup final, but not since then,” Tuchel concluded.

It remains to be seen if things change for the better over the summer for Grealish to have a regular role in the upcoming season.
