The WBC reveal all the details of their Boxing Grand Prix tournament

The World Boxing Council President, Mauricio Sulaimán, held an historic meeting with all the participants of the highly anticipated WBC Boxing Grand Prix, of which many new details were revealed for the first time.

The virtual meeting served as a platform to explain the exact details of the tournament to all of those involved.

He revealed that the WBC had received an impressive amount of applications, with thousands applying for a spot in the 32-man tournament over four divisions.

The first stage will be held in just a few weeks time from April 17 to 20 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

The Riyadh Season Boxing Grand Prix’s primary objective is to highlight emerging boxing talent, providing a crucial platform for athletes to gain exposure worldwide.

Not only is there a significant cash prize, but all four Grand Prix champions will become mandatory challengers for the WBC Silver title, placing them in pole positions to challenge for a world title soon after.

First Stage: April 17-20
Venue: Riyadh, Saudi Arabia
Divisions: Featherweight / Super Lightweight / Middleweight / Heavyweight
Participants: 32 boxers per division

Scoring: Open after the second and fourth rounds
