The top 3 realistic Warriors free agent targets that add size, rebounding

Most of the Golden State Warriors’ news and rumors are centered around big Warriors trade ideas that could make a splash. Although that is always fun to think about, unfortunately for the Warriors, what is much more likely is that they will need to make some small signings to build their depth. Let’s look at three Warriors’ free agent targets that could help the team without breaking the bank.

3- Al Horford

Horford was a key piece in the Celtics’ championship run last season. Al Horford is a proven winner and a high-IQ veteran. He would fit in perfectly in the Warriors’ read-and-react system. He is a perfect stretch four/five to play alongside Draymond Green. The only reason he isn’t higher on this list is solely due to his age and athleticism. The Warriors need some youth to help play big minutes during the regular season, and Horford isn’t that guy anymore.

2- Larry Nance Jr.

Larry Nance Jr. dealt with injuries and just not being able to get into the Atlanta Hawks rotation last season. He is likely looking for a new home that can offer him the chance to rebuild his value around the league and actually get some minutes. The Warriors would love to snag Nance Jr. while his value is low. At his peak, he can be a solid defender who can score efficiently and hit the three (over 40% from deep in his last two seasons). One worry is that he has dealt with injuries for much of his career, but taking a flier on Nance Jr. could pay off.

1- Santi Aldama

Santi Aldama isn’t the sexiest name to lead a Warriors free agent targets list. That being said, he is a sizable wing/big that can score and would fit well in the Warriors’ offense. Aldama had a career year last season for the Grizzlies with career-highs in points, rebounds, assists, steals, and three-point percentage. The Warriors need a younger player to step up and shoulder some of the offensive load during the regular season. Aldama has already played a solid role on a playoff team and he would only thrive more stretching the floor for Stephen Curry.
